As I said, what REALLY annoyed me was the lack of co-op. But everyone who wants Doom 1+2 as well as Resurrection of Evil have either got them already via Steam or XBLA. It would have been a decent package if it were released several years ago. Mods for vanilla Doom 3 do not work on BFG edition, rendering years of cool new maps, mods and graphical enhancements useless. The versions of Doom 1 and Doom II included aren't even the best versions of the game. Removed dynamic shadows from the game, giving it a more 'static' look. To be honest, this was the only thing I was really looking forward to. No co-op Doom 3 which even the orignal Xbox version had. Upscaled the game to higher resolutions without touching the textures, which in turn just makes the game look blurrier than it used to. Game natively supports HD resolutions - But so could the original game with a few simple config tweaks Quite frankly, as long as the product is good - I couldn't care less what platform it's on. It's not that they've gone to console either. They honestly used to be one of my all-time favorite developers. What IS bullshit is the absolute lack of care from id Software. This isn't uncommon per se, most maps reuse things from past levels all the time, but it's as if they didn't even TRY to vary it up. The Lost Mission was the only genuinely new part of the BFG edition and it seems as though it uses recycled prefabs from past levels. Now say what you want about the main game, I like Doom 3 (and RoE) and still play it to this day, thanks to a rather large mod community. I think people are over exaggerating, but they have a point. Evangeline is the den mother of the group and as usual she is immediately paired off with the goofball, as is common. The other negative I'll mention is that as many shows aimed at kids/teens with fantasy battle (shonen action), the women characters feel almost like they are there primarily to fill a quota of having tough ladies and for eye candy/romance. And I'm not even going to mention the fucking 3 parter soccer arc where the leads do nothing but play this world's version of soccer to get some cash. To be fair by the second half and particularly by the end there are genuine reasons you grow to care for their little band of tofu, but the characters act all nonchalant about it to start it literally felt like a couple of kids were playing Dungeons and Dragons, created their characters gave a 2 minute lecture on their character and how badass it is, and then the Dungeon Master proceeded to just throw them in the same town together as a group of adventurers that happen to want to travel together. The problem is that even when they first join, you never really feel a purpose they are all together besides the flimsiest of excuses. The show's first season biggest weakness, and hey Book 1 of the last airbender's too, is that the first half of the show is fucking plagued by throwaway borderline episodic episodes that don't really feel like they bring ANYTHING to the table besides showing the adventures of the crew as a way to have them bond. We've tested a wide range of Bluetooth headsets and below you'll find our selection of the best available, ranging from simple mono earpieces to premium stereo headsets designed with office use in mind. They offer exceptional call quality during virtual meetings on platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype and reduce the impact of ambient sound that would otherwise interrupt conversations.īluetooth headphones may trump them when it comes to versatility and musicality, but if you're after features specifically designed to enhance your hands-free experience, you’re still better off with a dedicated Bluetooth headset, especially if it’s for use in a professional environment. Once the preserve of call centre workers and taxi and lorry drivers, Bluetooth headsets have become key professional tools over the course of the pandemic. Lastly, we looked at voice assistant integration, the Bluetooth's range, and the pricing, among other aspects.Demand for the best Bluetooth headsets remains high despite many people making a return to the office. If the buttons helped to control media, we noted that down too. We checked the tactile control buttons on the headsets and how seamless they made the call receiving process. If the headset wasn't offering a secure or comfortable fit, we checked if it came with extra ear tips and hooks of varying sizes. We've also checked their battery lives, noise cancellation quality, microphone clarity, and fit. We've assessed these Bluetooth headsets by several criteria, starting with their audio quality on calls. Lastly, consider features such as Bluetooth range, voice assistant integration, the control buttons, and the number of devices the headset can connect to simultaneously. Some headsets will come with different ear tip sizes for a more customized fit. Then, check the type of fit that it offers. It'll also need to feature a robust microphone that can separate your voice from the background and ensure the receiver hears you clearly. If you're frequently taking calls in noisy places, then you'll want one with powerful noise isolation. A larger battery will keep the device running longer, increasing the product's overall lifespan.Ĭheck whether a headset offers noise cancellation. You'll want a headset that boasts a large battery if you're on calls for long hours daily. When choosing the best Bluetooth headsets for yourself, think about the way you take phone calls. How to choose the best Bluetooth headsets for you? In the market for wireless headphones rather than a headset? We've got you covered there too.The Bluetooth headset comes with six ear cushions and two ear hooks so that you can experiment till you find the most secure and comfortable fit for your ears. This is definitely a Bluetooth headset worth investing in if you rely on voice-free calls. The sound quality here is excellent, and it does a good job of limiting background noise picked up by its mic as well. The Stealth isn't quite as small and unnoticeable as its name suggests, but it's very technically impressive, so we'll let it slide. The Jabra Stealth is one of the nicest designed Bluetooth headsets in our roundup, and not only does it look good, it also feels comfortable to wear, being as light as it is. We can then use editing software such as Photoshop to “stack” all of these images, choosing the sharpest parts of each image and blending them all together. You capture a series of photos, changing the focus very slightly between each shot so that everything - from the foreground to the midground to the background - is in focus in at least one of them. This is where focus bracketing comes in handy. This can be useful when there’s a huge amount of depth in a scene and you want to get everything within the frame in focus.įor example, if you’re photographing a cactus in your foreground that’s a few feet from your lens, and a mountain in the background that’s a few miles away, trying to get both in focus - even at f/16 - might be impossible. It’s similar to exposure bracketing in that we make changes to our settings between each shot of the same scene, except here we change the focus instead of the exposure. It’s worth reminding yourself that if the first thing you see when looking at a photograph is the editing, then it’s almost certainly been edited too much!Īnother type of bracketing is focus bracketing. HDR photography sometimes has a bit of a bad reputation simply because enthusiasts often push the results too far.Īt its extreme, colors are exaggerated and shadows become non-existent. HDR describes the technique of then combining these different exposures and effectively expanding what was possible to capture in a single image. We use exposure bracketing to produce two or three differently exposed versions (sometimes more) of the same scene. One photograph can’t see anywhere near as much, but two photographs that overlap (this is important!) can be combined together to create something that’s closer to what we see naturally. On its own, the human eye sees a broad range of brightness through to darkness. Hopefully, this diagram gives you an indication of how exposure bracketing works. We can get around this by using a type of bracketing called exposure bracketing and then using HDR (High Dynamic Range) techniques to blend those images together. When we look at a landscape, our eye is able to see details in the shadows while also being able to see the blue of the sky.īy contrast, a camera will often fail to capture both in one image because its dynamic range - i.e., its ability to see both light and dark - is quite limited.īy changing our camera settings - aperture, shutter speed, and ISO - we can tell the camera which section of a dynamic range it should capture, but information that’s too bright or too dark is simply not going to be recorded. While digital cameras have made huge developments since the earliest consumer models appeared almost thirty years ago, camera sensors still can’t see as much dynamic range as the human eye and they can struggle with high contrast scenes. HDR combines all the shots into one image, using editing software. HDR (high dyamic range) photography is traditionally a post-processing technique, whereas (exposure) bracketing is a technique photographers use ‘in-camera’ that makes HDR possible.Įxposure bracketing results in multiple shots with different sequential exposures. What is the difference between HDR and Bracketing? The second reason is to give yourself the option to manipulate the photos when you get back to your computer, blending images together to create an otherwise impossible depth of field, or a dynamic range - i.e., amount of light from bright to dark - that’s simply not possible to capture within one digital image file.Įxposure bracketing and HDR are great for high contrast scenes while focus bracketing and focus stacking can be useful for macro, interior, and landscape photography.īasically, bracketing gives you the option to combine multiple photographs of the same scene in order to create something that would otherwise be impossible, opening up more opportunities to be creative with your photography. There are two main reasons to use bracketing.įirstly, you might not be confident that your chosen settings are going to give the best results, and you want to shoot multiple photographs with small tweaks to the settings in between each image to make sure that you come home with the perfect shot. When Would You Use Bracketing in Photography? Simply put, bracketing is taking multiple photographs of the same scene, often on a tripod, and making small changes between shots, most typically to the exposure or the focusing. It reads metatags and is an excellent third-party solution for devices that lack Flash capability browsers. Its lack of features and low-system requirements make it ideal for use on low-spec machines like the Raspberry Pi or older computer systems, often found at schools and some businesses. This is your go-to app if you need to play flash videos quickly. It supports multiple files on a single playlist, plays both embedded and external SWF files, has a low memory footprint with simple controls and is reliable when your bandwidth is severely restricted or offline. If you prefer to use an advanced player with more features, try the VLC Media Player. Small web files (SWF) are multimedia files that can contain animation, vector graphics, sounds and videos. Adobe Flash has been the de facto standard for web browser-based media streaming for quite some time now. They provide a high level of control over how video is played back through the use of the ActionScript programming environment. SWF files can be embedded in websites and run on various platforms. These include iOS devices, Android devices, Macs and Windows computers. In addition to this, they also work on Linux machines with the Adobe Flash plugin installed.įlash files used to be popular on the Internet as a way of providing multimedia content. However, with HTML5 and its own native streaming capabilities now supported by most browsers, Flash has become less important. Why Play SWF files?Īlthough SWF files aren't as popular as they were in the past, there are still many places you'll encounter them. For example, they're often used as adverts on websites or embedded in articles. These are generally used to present information quickly and occasionally to provide video content. Playing SWF files offline opens the possibility of playing the content without needing to go through another service or even having an Internet connection. This may be critical in certain situations, such as on aeroplanes that don't allow you to use an Internet browser that can play flash files. With SWF, you can play and embed external SWF files. You can play SWF files from a network share or from a USB drive. This also solves the longstanding problems with insurance fraud. Collaborative editing means multiple people can edit the same files using different operating systems. But it's certainly one of the most interesting and capable when in the right hands.Ī special note about Atom is that it's a cross platform editor, which means it's compatible with Windows, iOS, and even Linux. Want to write in Markdown with a solarized color scheme? Then download the Markdown Writer extension and choose from one of the hundreds of community-generated themes.Ītom is far from perfect as a text editor due to its lack of one or two standard features - such as an automatic grammar changer - that have been standard in other note-taking apps for years. Want to make it look and feel like Word 2016 with a Smooth Typing Animation-style effect? No problem. Because it's based on common web standards, you can hack its CSS stylesheet to create just about any visual theme you can think of. Something of a left-field choice, Atom is primarily an app used for coding, but its sheer range of customization options means that you can customize it into a useful text editor too. Most of Bear’s features are free to use on any iOS device, but there is a paid-for pro-version with additional themes, export options, which are available with a small monthly or annual subscription. Latest features include Tag autocomplete, light and dark themes, annotation of PDFs, encryption and app lock. However, Bear, which is pretty easy on the eye, and one of the few polished Markdown apps that allow you to insert images directly into notes, which could make it a far more valuable app overall if images are a big part of your workflow. Bear uses rich Markdown for editing, so you can insert links into documents without having to display the full URLs in a similar manner to Ulysses. Using a Slack-like three-pane interface, you can arrange notes by applying hashtags, which allows a subfolder style system. The Evernote Business plan includes the above but also comes with collaborative options and team administrative features.Ī relative newcomer to the note-taking app scene, Bear lies somewhere in-between Evernote and Ulysses, allowing you to create notes and sync them across various Apple devices using iCloud. The Evernote Premium plan allows for integrations with Slack, Outlook, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce, as well as provides an AI for content suggestions such as similar content in other notes you've made, as well as content info from media sites. While there's a free plan with some limited features, there are also two paid plans, the Evernote Premium plan for individual users, and the Evernote Business plan for business. Recent additions include new tables and a Siri integration for those using the iOS edition. Other features include the ability to set reminders, present notes PowerPoint-style, and merge them together. Notes can be accessed on laptops, mobile devices and the web, so you're rarely left with a situation where you can't retrieve what you've saved. One of its best features for gathering research is the Web Clipper extension (supported in Chrome, Firefox and Safari), which lets you save entire webpages - including text, images and PDFs - with a single click. Evernote lets you create both simple and complex workflows using a combination of notebooks, notes and tags to keep everything organized. No list of best note-taking apps is complete without Evernote, which is one of the oldest and most fully-featured. The only thing we could wish for is better support channels. Furthermore, its transparency around security and reasonable pricing make it hard for us not to recommend it. Its long list of features should cover all parts of a typical business process from research and design to presentation, and its collaboration abilities are second to none. Many of these will serve well as project management tools, and anybody familiar with other project management software like Airtable or Trello will already be familiar with how they work. Some of its most commonly accessed templates include mind maps, Kanban boards, flowcharts, product roadmaps, and timelines. Setting one up from scratch can be daunting and time-consuming, which is why the company has designed templates that you can pick from the get-go. The majority of the work you’ll end up doing in Miro will revolve around what it calls boards, which start off as entirely blank spaces. It is best described as a multipurpose online collaboration tool, and its list of features is pretty extensive stretching beyond the typical realms of similar software. Miro is one of those online tools that aims to bridge the gap between traditional office working and the modern hybrid routine that many of us are familiar with.
